Youth Zone Mural Project

The project is to provide a Mural Project working with professional artists. There will be equipment’s and tools brought that can be used to provide in-house future project with the staff of the youth zone. The Mural Project will engage young people and our youth zone members in transforming an wall into a striking large-scale artwork that celebrates local identity and pride. Over 6 to 8 weeks, participants will work with professional artists and youth workers to design and paint the mural, gaining creative skills, teamwork experience, and confidence as they see their ideas come to life. Beyond beautifying the local area, the project will foster community engagement, provide young people with a safe and positive outlet for self-expression, and create a lasting legacy for the neighbourhood.

At a time when the cost-of-living crisis limits access to enrichment activities, this project will offer young people and families free opportunities to be creative, connect with others, and build new skills. To celebrate their achievement, participants will take part in a three-day residential in the countryside. The residential will provide valuable team-building activities, chances to reflect on their journey, and opportunities to develop resilience, self-esteem, and stronger friendships — benefits many families could not otherwise afford. Together, the mural and the residential will leave both a physical and personal legacy, strengthening the community and empowering young people to thrive.

The project will also support mental health and wellbeing by helping participants develop confidence, resilience, and problem-solving skills. For young people, the workshops provide safe, positive activities at a time when many families cannot afford enrichment opportunities, helping them build aspirations and stay engaged in their community.
