Less chicken shops

From "Issues & Options Consultation"

Go to the project

Chicken shops feature in the Newham plan, namely avoiding them in close proximity to schools. Lovely idea and paper work. Neat and lovely maps on the Newham plan. Newham council is fab at doing glossy looking policy and appalling at implementing any.

this policy does not get properly implemented or seems like there are loopholes. Again implement policy please, specially this sort of policy that saves lives.

fact: every school age Newham child passes by between 1 and 3 chicken shops on their way to school.

Newham has the third largest rate of obesity in the capital, with one in 3 children finishing school being properly obese, and rates much worse since the pandemic, with poorer areas suffering the most. see below article about the calamity of child obesity in deprived areas.

Do more research on this and government guidance and stats.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/childhood-obesity-applying-all-our-health/childhood-obesity-applying-all-our-health

this is about Public heath, social mobility, giving kids and teenagers good start in life, better life expectancy and health, It would save tones of money in obesity care, diabetes and so on. Poor health costs councils money.

please do not allow this disaster to continue. Further more, chicken shops are an environmental disaster- so under the climate emergency implementing this policy is key.

Please save lives.
