Proposed budget

GBP 10,000

Description

JFK Special School offers specialist provision for pupils, from Reception to Year 14, with special and additional needs based across four sites in Newham. We would like to host a community hub at our Beckton site cafe called JFK Community Hub for local residents.

The JFK Community Hub will be a welcoming, inclusive space that nurtures both individual wellbeing and community connection. The hub will promote mental health, social inclusion and active participation by offering a safe space where people can meet others and engage in hands-on activities.

Through wellbeing mornings, coffee drop-ins and creative workshops, the hub will build a strong sense of belonging. The sessions will centre around developing a healthy lifestyle. Local residents, school families, staff and students will all be invited to engage, reducing isolation and encouraging positive, meaningful relationships.

In addition, the hub will offer opportunities for skills development for our learners, through structured involvement in hospitality, customer service and community activities. These opportunities will not only support individual development but also deepen the community’s understanding of the diverse needs, talents and potential of our students.
