Wallball Court - Priory Park
From "Green Street Community Assemblies"
Go to the project

A multi function Wallball court should be constructed. Wallball is an urban sport that is growing year on year and provides health and activity to people of all ages.
A community court would make sport and leisure free and available for all in our community. This can also be designed in collaboration with local schools/ artist to create a mural that defines character and ethos in the local environment. It has proven a success in other areas of the world and a new court has just been built in Southwark which is proving very beneficial to the community: https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2021/apr/08/any-wall-any-ball-any-time-first-uk-wall-ball-court-opens-in-london. This court can be used to aid several other sports and promotes public use of facilities in our local area.
Although an urban sport, these walls can be cleverly constructed to bridge the gap between our green spaces and our local infrastructure. They can also be created by recycling already present walls.
These walls promote an environment that seeks to engage the community in their area whilst spending time in their natural surroundings. If we can create facilities like this, there is no doubt that residents will gain more respect for their local areas. This in turn would contribute to a decrease in littering and an uptake in community recycling
