Inclusive Community Hub - £20,000

From "Beckton and Royal Docks Community Assemblies"

Go to the project

We will provide inclusive and improved indoor and outdoor spaces - as well as activate these spaces with free activities to engage local residents - an inclusive community food and activity hub, including two indoor and two outdoor cafes and free activities in the spaces. These will be at St Marks Church, RDLAC (indoors Monday - Friday), St John’s Green and Royal Victoria Gardens including weekends.

The hub will provide inclusive spaces for local residents to meet both indoors and outdoors, engage with wellbeing, learning and social events and activities or simply to relax and enjoy a cup of tea or healthy meal and include pop up cafe nights and BBQ’s, providing an opportunity for local community chefs as well as a safe space for local residents to meet.

Examples of activities include yoga, tai chi, pilates, gardening, computer sessions, coffee mornings, local walks and art classes. We will also include free refreshments, drinks and healthy snacks for participants.

We will consult with local community members to help design the hub, to choose additional activities that they would like to see as well as suggest menus for the cafe.

This project meets the priorities:

  1. Cleaner environments
  2. Inclusive and Improved outdoor spaces
  3. Community safety

I strongly support this application as I have previously attended events at the café and in the local parks and had a great time and met new neighbors and RDLAC have a long track record of delivering such events
