HELP US RESTORE BARRINGTON PLAYING FIELDS TO PROVIDE AN OUTDOOR SPORTS AND RECREATION SPACE AS WELL AS AN ALLOCATED COMMUNITY GARDEN FOR FLOWERS AND VEGETATION.
The proposal is to restore and re-open Barrington Playing Fields in the Little Ilford Ward, Manor Park E12, which has been closed to the community for over five years.
The outdoor green space, which belongs to Newham Council, has become overgrown and derelict, and prone to anti-social activities. An open space like this is much needed, especially in the Little Ilford area as there are not enough facilities nearby.
We wish to restore the space and re-open it as an outdoor sports and recreation centre. The space has huge potential as it already has a gated/walled court that can accommodate Basket Ball, 5-a-side Football etc. In addition to this, there is a large grass area which could be used as a multi-use pitch for Cricket and Football.
On one side of the space, we wish to make a separate Community Garden which would facilitate growing flowers as well as vegetation and would serve as a much-needed public facility.
The Shade, which is a local charitable grassroots organisation that is already running various sports and recreational activities in Manor Park will maintain the space and make it accessible to all.
We hope you will support us in bringing back a derelict space into community usage.
