Project: Hamara Ghar Community Garden

Currently Hamara Ghar has an outdoor communal area. The area currently consists of a few planters and a some benches.

The aim of the project is to turn the open space into a community garden for local residents. Currently there is no local green space for the residents to have access to do their own gardening or any outdoor social space for them to use outside their flats.

The space would be turned into a pop-up garden with additional planters and trellises for residents to be able to grow their own fruit, vegetables, flowers and climbers as well as a greenhouse.

Also adding to additional seating with benches and a covered area so residents can use the space for personal and social gatherings.

Investing in this open space would greatly enhance quality of life for the elderly residents and its visitors, build on community cohesion and bond with nature. Looking at beds and trellises planted with vegetables and flowers would be a pleasing sight against the starkness of the tower blocks dotting the skyline.
