Greener Together is run by residents of Alma Street, Whitear Walk, Simons Walk and St Paul’s Drive (E15). Currently we live in an area with poor air quality and few green spaces, plus we feel the effects of climate change, such as overheating, worse than most of London.
Together, we’re making our area greener, happier and healthier and one of the ways will be by creating more spaces for outdoor play and exercise.
The money will be used to help redesign elements of the multi-use games area on Alma Street. This will likely involve improved sport and play equipment, improved greening and planting areas and a community mural. Money will also be used for things like play or exercise clubs and providing free cycle workshops and lessons. The area has been highlighted by local residents as a facility in urgent need of improvement due to lack of investment.
The project addresses two local priorities:
· Environment and Greener Streets - reducing air pollution, promoting walking and cycling, improving green spaces, making space for nature.
· Health and Wellbeing - spending time outdoors for better mental health, play and exercise equipment for physical health, more opportunities to meet neighbours and build stronger relationships.
