From "East Ham Community Assemblies 2022"

Go to the project

The project will include the following;

-           Self-defence classes led by MMARAP (https://www.mmarap.co.uk) for deaf and hearing women, empowering discipline, self-esteem, confidence and team-building skills.

- Deaf Awareness training for local organisations and community centres within East Ham.

- British Sign Language Storytelling with Trovers Orr, author of 'Daniel & The Rubbish Monster', educating children on how to keep the environment clean.

We aim to provide each project three times per month from September 2022-March 2023, delivered in East Ham Library and local community centres in the borough. We will ensure British Sign Language Interpreters are present to ensure all projects are accessible to deaf and hearing people.

All three projects will benefit the local community with safety, accessibility and environment. In addition, the community’s health and well-being and inclusion for deaf residents.
