Flytipping -> Greenery on Carlyle Road

The corner of Carlyle Road onto Romford Road is a flytipping hotspot. The extended pavement invites rubbish. The opposite (north side) pavement is planted up not only deterring flytipping but also improving biodiversity and greening of the borough.

My proposal is for the hotspot to be turned into a flower bed. It's very straightforward as the opposite side provides an example of what it would look like. The concrete needs to be removed and then local, hardy, evergreen perennials can be planted up.

The picture shows the north side example greenery. It's so simple to do!

If it works and doesn't become a bed of littler, I'm all for it. The planter placed on the corner of Carlton Road and Romford Road suffered this fate and has been removed. This corner is also a hot spot for drinking, littering, fly tipping and urinating. More enforcement and some strategically placed bins would also help.

Flytipping is a big problem in our area - strongly support any projects to address it. Perhaps if this use of a planter is successful in deterring flytipping, this approach could be replicated across Manor Park and Little Ilford.

Flytipping is everywhere in the borough, and I agree, a major issue in numerous hotspots. Flower beds and shrubs will certainly improve the area......if the street sweepers took the time to weed out the litter which gathers in and around the shrubs! However, £5,000 would be best spent installing public urinals around the Borough, just like they have across Europe.

Fly tipping is a big issue around Manor Park and any project related to this will get my support. I cannot wait to see how many fines have been issued this month. Great project! You have my vote!
