Exhibitions

Let's not 'art wash' this - exhibitions take time, money and lot of effort to do and make look good. I hope Newham's planners don't expect the artists to work for free because we will be notifying the Artists Union England and Arts Council !

My preferred option is a multi function space with a clear statement of purpose and how it's different from existing facilities eg Applecart, Red Door . Good exhibition spaces need curation, building maintenance, invigilators etc. If the aim is to get people to see the work how about thinking outside the gallery box? Love exhibitions, but let's be more creative in thinking what the need is and how it could be met.

Would be great to have an exhibitions and events space. Attracting artists to the area with affordable workshop space or places to exhibit their work is such a great way to bring vibrancy to the area. If there was an arts space, you could also have an arts school there like the Art Academy in south london.

I think this is my preferred option. An exhibitions space has the potential for having an all-hours, concrete benefit without the need for performers at any one time.
