Description
Project Brief: EduCaketion CIC – Afterschool Baking Club
We are excited to launch an Afterschool Baking Club in Newham that combines fun, creativity, and life skills for children and young people. The club will run weekly during term-time between March 2026 and February 2027 and will be open to all local children, including those with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Through baking, children will learn practical skills such as measuring, following instructions, and kitchen safety, while also developing confidence, teamwork, and creativity. Each session will give children the chance to make something they can proudly take home and share with their families.
The project will:
- Provide an inclusive, safe, and supportive space for over 100 children across Newham.
- Offer adapted equipment and one-to-one support so that SEN children can fully participate.
- Involve parents, volunteers, and young people as peer mentors, strengthening community connections.
- End with a family celebration and recipe booklet, showcasing what the children have achieved.
We believe this project will make Newham a better place to live by supporting young people, promoting wellbeing, and building stronger family and community bonds.
