To Install bike hangars in and around Green Street to secure long-term bicycle storage facility for local residents
Aim: The aim of the project is to reduce emissions and increase cycling by making cycling more accessible for residents through the provision of storage facilities which are much needed as the majority of homes in the area are terraced houses or flats which do not allow this.
The project will directly impact local residents and the wider community. Each of this hangar takes the space of half a car but it will serve and secure bike parking for 6 bike spaces, so it will serve for at least up to 6 residents. Bike hangars will contribute towards reduction of car use which will reduce the gas emissions thereby indirectly it will impact the whole community by providing cleaner air for all local residents. It will contribute also towards a cleaner environment as well as healthier and more active lifestyle for the residents.
This project is in line with Newham Cycling Strategy which sets outs the Council’s policy to support cycling and presents a plan of action to deliver greater numbers of cycling trips in Newham, with a target of 5% of trips across the borough being made by bike by 2025
