Covered outdoor classroom/ space in East Ham Central Park

From "East Ham Community Assemblies"

Go to the project

An outdoor classroom or covered area which can be used by community groups for meetings or exercise sessions/ rainy day activities in East Central Park.

The pandemic and reduced opportunities for socialisation showed that there is an increasing need for activities to take place outside in the fresh area. Having a space protected from rain where people can do activities on a a rainy day and could be used for exercise classes or children's sessions etc. would be a great way to get people using the park. Many people in Newham lack space indoors for children to play/run around or to sit and relax. A covered outdoor classroom would be a great multi-use space. It could be combined with a wider variety of plants in East Ham park to attract wildlife and as an opportunityfor people to learn about different plants - perhaps a kitchen garden next to the cafe with lots of plants for pollinators?

I also think that some outdoor exercise equipment (similar to West Ham Park) would be used a lot in East Ham Central Park.

Great idea, although I do think they need to repair the existing playground aswell
I like this idea too, especially if it can be used for unstructured play for all ages.
This is a fab idea! Could be used for so many different purposes
From Peter Landman I agree:- This proposal could be a development from the Laughter and Lattes project last September.in cCentral Park, This covered a big marquee. within it..solcially distanced little tables.. free coffee and cakes '.embrioidery and a chair based exercise session.. I think there is an educational need:- My Daughter is an Infant School Teacher and tells me she reckons...5-6 year olds are 6 months behind in general development
