The Project will deliver the following:

Growing Workshops

Practical workshops on affordably growing the most organic food

Learn about rainwater harvesting and sustainable irrigation

Find out how to make bug-hotels and provide help for pollinators

Local guided foraging walks, finding food growing wild

Cooking Workshops

Learn delicious new recipes limiting food waste, saving you money

Cooked food from these practical workshops will be served to local residents

Pick fresh fruit, herbs and vegetables from Newham’s first food forest!

Mending Workshops

Learn basic clothes mending techniques

Practical hand-sewing guidance

All materials provided. Just bring clothes that need mending!

Fashion Upcycling

Creative fashion upcycling workshops 

Update unloved garments into exciting new items

Showcase your work with a fashion show.

‘Climate Kids’

Interactive, fun workshops learning about climate change and sustainable-living

Practical sessions making draught-excluders using upcycled materials

Upcycling old clothes creatively into bags.

Sustainable cost-of-living Workshops

Planting advice with free seed-planting packs (food and wildflowers) 

Seed and plant cuttings swaps organised with other residents

Free, sustainable product samples, like cost-effective shampoo bars 

Learn to make affordable, non-toxic home product alternatives

Home energy-saving advice.

Newham’s first food forest

 Help choose plants for Newham’s first food forest in the Katherine Road community centre front garden...fruit, herbs, perennial vegetables and wildflowers.
