Go to the project

The aim of the project is to turn the space into a community garden for local residents. The space would be used by residents to plant fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as using it for outdoor social spaces for the local residents. The project would look at cleaning the garden and removing the broken planters and benches and replacing them with new ones including having planters that are accessible for wheelchair users. Also clearing the footpath and making it more accessible. We are also looking at adding in planters to the front green space of the community garden. As the area lacks access to open green spaces, this would provide a space for local residents and users to have an opportunity to have their own garden and to grow their own fresh fruit and veg.
The garden and green space will be maintained by the local residents using the space. We also have a community gardener who uses the centre to help maintain the garden. The project will be taking place at Katherine Road Community garden which has good access to public transport for local residents.
