Description

Come Dine with Shipman is a yearlong cooking programme which will be broken down into 6-week workshops, with the aim of teaching young people how cook healthy and nutritious meals they enjoy. The workshops will allow young people to gain a better understanding of the nutritional value of food while learning culinary skills and food hygiene.

The programme supports the health and well-being of those in the community as aims to foster healthy eating habits. Young people will learn cooking skills that enables them to build confidence in the kitchen and support the transition of independent living, through practical and theoretical learning . In addition, young people have the opportunity to gain a level 2 food hygiene qualification and transferable skills helping them to be more prepared for future employment. We hope these sessions encourage young people to think about their futures and spark an interest in careers centred around hospitality, catering or nutrition.

We aim to foster a good sense of community cohesion by bringing young people together from different backgrounds and strengthening social bonds. Additionally, we plan to develop inter-generational connections by having session where people of different generations share a meal or part-take in a cooking session.
