This project will be delivered in and through the newly built community centre based in Chobham Manor. We have no doubt that this project will bring tremendous benefit to the local community and surrounding neighbourhoods, by offering them a community facility space like no other.

With enough funding we can provide free further education lessons to our young members of the community, by partnering with teachers and professionals who will encourage innovation and creativity through the youth of Stratford and West Ham. As well as offering a space for the elderly, vulnerable, new mums and isolated members of the community to come and engage with one another, reducing isolation and mental health issues that have only increased as a result of the recent COVID-19 pandemic. 

Our goal is to have a fully functional work space so that we can provide the right training and support for all walks of members from the community and ultimately carry on with our mission at ASL which is to reach as many people with physical and additional needs as possible, to offer them quality and inclusive, real life working environments.

    It is unclear if this building would be left vacant if this funding is not agreed. And if the building will be left vacant when this funding runs out. It is a brand new building part of the Taylor Wimpey development - I am surprised to see that money is required to make use of the newly built space.

      @Chris Wilkinson Hi Chris, thanks for your comment. We are already using all of the funding we have, into making the space as fit for purpose as possible. We plan on securing ongoing funding to ensure that it is not left vacant, as well as finding great local talent who rent the space at a cost, which ultimately help us pay our rent / bills etc. Obviously, in an ideal world, we would not need funding to make this space fit for purpose, but we need new flooring and a ventilation system installed and that is just the start. The 20k we are asking for here is only a fraction of the total cost it is going to take to bring the community centre to the spec that it should be as well as to be able to offer the space for free to the local youth and vulnerable and isolated members of the community. If funding is not agreed then we will try for other streams of income and wait for the trade from our Café to be sufficient enough to be able to support the centre. Thanks.
