Changing Places Toilet in Central Park Cafe-£5000

I propose that we renovate the toilets in the cafe in Central Park to include a Changing Places facility. As this park is already such an important centre for our community, it makes sense to create facilities that allow everyone, including those with mobility difficulties to access the park. A Changing Places toilet has a changing bed, hoist, a toilet and sink at an accessible height, and enough room for a wheelchair user and carer to manoeuvre. A Changing Places toilet can be used by everyone -- those with special needs and those without. Adding a Changing Places facility to the cafe will address two of our community priorities by helping to make East Ham's parks and open spaces more accessible. The toilets in the cafe are in need of repair and renovation anyway in order to meet the standard to which the cafe has been raised. Local residents who use wheelchairs would, with this new inclusive space, see Central Park as a welcoming and accessible space. They will be encouraged to enjoy all of the positives of being out in our beautiful green space without the anxiety that the lack of a suitable toilet brings.

When voting for this project please also vote for the additional funding proposed by the working group that would allow the maximum of £20,000 to be allocated to these renovations.
