Breaking Barriers – Autism Awareness & Family Support in Newham

Too many families in Custom House and Canning Town feel isolated and unsupported when raising a child with autism. GUBA Foundation wants to change this. Our project, Breaking Barriers: Autism Awareness & Family Support in Newham, will support 50 families – around 200 people – through free workshops, sensory play sessions, respite care and local peer-support networks. Parents will gain confidence, children will enjoy safe and fun activities, and families will feel less alone. We will also work with NHS autism specialists to improve early diagnosis and connect families to the right services. By tackling stigma and providing culturally sensitive support, we want to make our neighbourhood a place where children with autism are celebrated, not hidden, and where families feel part of the community. At just £100 per participant per year, this project represents small funding with a big impact.
