Art for Fun

For this project, Art for fun aim to approach different ethnic/religious groups, with the aim of facilitating cross cultural exchanges and promoting a greater understanding of each other among diverse groups within the community of Beckton & RD. The aim is to improve community relationships and draw people together. Every couple of months, we will engage with a different community group, through the medium of art.

We will invite different ethnic/religious groups to join us on an adhoc basis as well as organise workshops to explore each others culture to which everyone is welcome

We will invite artists from relevant cultures to run specific skills workshops either during Art for Fun sessions, or at times convenient to the other groups. We will look at relevant imagery and create cards, decorations and art pieces that celebrate and explore cultural issues. The project will end with an exhibition which will celebrate the work that’s been created, sharing it with the local community and more widely. We will promote this through St Marks, Beckton Globe, local partners and social media. It will give participants a sense of achievement and feeling of value for their work, boost self-esteem and enhance social interaction.
