Proposed budget

GBP 15,845

Description

Art For Fun aims to promote creative health in Beckton and Royal Docks, in response to the national demand for greater mental health provisions and the recognition that people in Newham have poorer health outcomes than the overall population.

We believe we can play a role in supporting local health and wellbeing by exploring mindfulness through art in our 2026 programming, while providing more opportunities for community development, participation, and empowerment.

We will plan a series of:

 • Artist-led workshops for group members that will be inspired by the principle of mindfulness, which is to bring non-judgemental awareness to our direct experiences with kindness and care and will be designed to:

  • Inspire the development of creative skills and confidence

  • Encourage social engagement and cross-cultural connection

  • Promote wellbeing by exploring self-care and mindfulness through art

 • Empowerment seminars for community members will educate community members on ways to bring more mindful art practices into their daily lives in support of their wellbeing.

 • Mindfulness training sessions for Art For Fun volunteers that will introduce them to the principles of mindfulness, how to incorporate them into facilitating art activities, and ways to support the group’s wellbeing as a volunteer.

I attended a couple of sessions and saw the dedication of the team, how inclusive it was and I actually sat down and created art which I haven't done for years.

Your project clearly identifies an important local need and positions art as a meaningful pathway to improving wellbeing. The focus on mindfulness is timely and aligns well with national health priorities. The balance of workshops, seminars, and volunteer training creates a holistic approach that supports both individual growth and community resilience. It might be helpful to highlight how you will measure impact (e.g., participant feedback, wellbeing indicators) to strengthen the case for long-term sustainability.

Great club! I ended up volunteering after seeing how they are transforming the community and providing activities that everyone who attends is able to access and achieve amazing end results. The smiles and joy that pemiates from their faces is electrifying and amazing!! This is an amazing club and would be a pillar to this community.
